This is an update to the original Squidoo link juice test blogged on April 7, 2008. Please read through that if you missed it.

We added a few higher quality links to the Squidoo page and included a link from a HubPages info page over the last few weeks. Yahoo decided it liked the page enough to pass some juice but did not index or cache the page. Google still ignores the page entirely.

Google is going through some big changes recently and may just be slow to index, cache, and record backlinks, so I plan to wait a few more weeks before loading the page with a few dozen links as our final test.

Google Jobs: English Language Quality Rater

About a month ago, Google's quality Rater Guidelines were leaked and reported by Search Engine Land among others. I am a bit slow to find the time to analyze the confidential Google document but certainly found it interesting.

Here is my take on the information and guidelines used by Google to rate your web pages.

Relevance & Utility

No surprise that Google is most interested in relevance and utility when it comes to SERP'S. Without a doubt these are the key factors that their rater's guidelines hope to achieve.

Aaron Wall released a fantastic 11 minute video on social media today. It is a fantastic production providing his views on SEO moving in the direction of social media.

The video covers more than just social media and provides insight into many of the elements necessary for successful Internet marketing.

Sphider is a great product for large sites wanting a free site search product that is scalable and free.

Configuration of this product is extremely simple and it uses a MySql database and php program to index your site as often as you would like. A cron entry can be used to automate the entire process.

If you have a large site and don't have it completely indexed this product will provide everything you need to create a customizable site search facility.

Are you a Squidoo Lensmaster? In case your not, Squidoo is one of the sites around the web that allows you to create a web page about any topic including do follow links.

Need some deep links? This is a good place to create a page with a topical title, headings, and body content for that deep link. So, is it that simple? Just build the page and walk away? I guess nothing is really that easy so we are conducting a test to show you step by step what needs to be done.

To begin, we picked a combination of letters yielding no search results on Google, Yahoo, or Live search. Then, on the lens we included a link using those letter combinations as the anchor text. Now, this is a copy / paste hacked up worthless page that will never get any rating on Squidoo, so we will keep that in mind as a limiting factor in the ultimate success potential this lens will have.
