Are you a Squidoo Lensmaster? In case your not, Squidoo is one of the sites around the web that allows you to create a web page about any topic including do follow links.
Need some deep links? This is a good place to create a page with a topical title, headings, and body content for that deep link. So, is it that simple? Just build the page and walk away? I guess nothing is really that easy so we are conducting a test to show you step by step what needs to be done.
To begin, we picked a combination of letters yielding no search results on Google, Yahoo, or Live search. Then, on the lens we included a link using those letter combinations as the anchor text. Now, this is a copy / paste hacked up worthless page that will never get any rating on Squidoo, so we will keep that in mind as a limiting factor in the ultimate success potential this lens will have.

I did not link to the page in this post so if you want to see the page (not worth the trip!) the url is shown in red at the bottom of the page.
The page was created on February 25, 2008. With no links at all, Live search indexed the page but did not immediately show any link love at all for our anchor text. Yahoo and Google ignored the page entirely. So, after 3 weeks I linked to the page using a few forum signatures to see if that would get the ball rolling.
The results to this point are that Yahoo has completely ignored the page. No indexing no nothing. Google did index and cache the page on March 17. Live search on the other hand has passed some juice our way as shown by the image below.

The page we passed juice to does not contain the anchor text on the Squidoo page but with minimal linking Live search gave us some love. I plan to wait another week or so and then write an article about this test to provide some links from other sources to see how much effort is required for Squidoo to pass link juice for this fairly useless page. Stay tuned!
