Difference between SEO and PPC

SEO is the abbreviation for Search Engine Optimization.
PPC is the abbreviation for Pay Per Click

PPC is a method of advertising providing a website with immediate traffic for targeted keywords. Advertising cost is based upon a cost for each click on an ad served up.

Google's Adwords, Yahoo's Search Marketing, and MSN adCenter are the three largest pay per click offerings.

SEO is an investment in a website to target keyphrases and enable high rankings for organic, free search. SEO involves many factors including site architecture, navigation, keyphrase optimization, and link building.

THE DIFFERENCES
PPC is for immediate gratification (traffic) which will stop when the advertising budget stops.

SEO is an investment in domain authority and long term organic rankings not specifically associated with a "cost per click".
