A page that is keyword focused (title, headings, content) can outrank a page from a more reputable site that only casually mentions the same terms.

A domain with TrustRank and PageRank will always be elevated in rankings compared to lesser domains if relevance is equal or even close.

As you can see in our fictitious example, the final ranking favored the Holistic dog food entry over the listing with the synonym pet which depicts domain authority outweighing a synonym or keyword density.
